First, I’d like to say again how thankful we all are that so many developers took the time to fill out our Android Developer Survey. You guys and gals kick serious ass. We’ll be publishing a report with the survey results soon after the new year so keep an eye out for it! About the t-shirts Fun fact: 9 out of 10 scientists agree. Wearing an Apkudo t-shirt makes you 24% more attractive to the opposite sex.* I’ve gotten a few emails, tweets, and strangely enough a homing pigeon – which I thought to be an antiquated, however effective, form…
There’s no point sugar-coating it: testing is not exactly the most fun you can have with a computer. However, it’s an important part of providing a good user experience. Well-tested apps make their users happy, and happy users don’t post incomprehensible one-star reviews like these (taken from a recent sampling of high-ranking Market apps): On Android, there are many options available for automated testing, starting with the Android Testing Fundamentals page, then moving on to beta testing and advanced automated testing packages like Robotium. But how many people actually use these tools? At Apkudo, we’re interested in questions like these,…
Our awesome designer Dave was inspired by chatting with some of our beta testers over the weekend, and we came in on Monday to this hanging on the wall: Thanks, Dave! -Kate @katelyons3
Last Wednesday I tweeted, “If you don’t leave a conference absolutely exhausted, you’re not doing it right. #AnDevCon” I said it because the energy at AnDevCon’s was palpable and it took a lot for all of us at Apkudo to keep up! I’m sure we’ve all been to our fair share of boring, stiff conferences, but AnDevCon blew those shows out of the water. We can’t thank the conference organizers and attendees enough for allowing us to contribute to such an amazing show! Here are a few of the highlights from AnDevCon: Josh’s Lightning Talk about the Apkudo Test Platform…
Launching a company is no easy feat. We’ve all been busy bees preparing to launch the Apkudo test platform. We’re also gearing up for our participation at AnDevCon, which is going to be our little taste of honey. We’ve got a lot going on at AnDevCon – here’s the buzz: 1) Apkudo CEO Josh Matthews will participate in the “Lightning Talk” sessions between 4:45 pm – 6:15 pm on Monday, November 7. Josh is going to give a super-fast, super-fun presentation on Android’s biggest challenge – the F word (not that F word, the other F word – fragmentation!) –…
tl;dr: Android is great. Fragmentation sucks. It causes experience problems. Such as Launch Anxiety. But it doesn’t have to. We’re working on that. Our first product, the Apkudo test platform, lets developers see their apps run on every Android device. Launching November 6 early November. Free. The long version: I don’t think it’s possible to overestimate the impact that smartphone technologies have had on our world. The opportunities that arise when you have an accessible, capable, and connected computing device in the pockets of a critical mass of users is astonishing; the smartphone becomes a delivery mechanism for innovation, and…
